OFFICIAL NOTICE CURITIBA
(Global Green)

The Federation of the Green Parties of the Americas, in the cooperation spirit that characterizes it, considers vital the realization of a next Green Global meeting whose antecedent is in the Global Meeting of Canberra, in such a way that we can continue the work initiated there to strengthen the bonds among the Green political forces that are arising and consolidating in the whole planet.

The Federation (FPVA) considers wise the decision of having the African Continent as the seat for the global meeting because it is a region of fundamental importance for the global balance, due to its great biodiversity, which is in serious risk because of the severe economic, political and social problems of the region that have increased due to the forgetfulness to which they have been exposed after a long history of exploitation. This situation in itself determines a central political objective as we recognize ourselves, the Greens, as the pertinent defenders of the global causes of justice, equity, democracy, humanism and environmental conservation.

Our next global meeting taking place in Africa, on issues that severely affect all of the human population and the planetary environment, will allow us to send a clear message throughout the world concerning the strength of the Green ideology and of our convictions, sustained in the respect of all races and forms of thought, under the sign of unity within diversity.

Being as important as it is, the issue of the meetings among the Greens of the world, we could consider analyzing the possibility of perhaps realizing them with more continuity, and if convenient and feasible, coinciding with other international meetings such as the world social forum.

We are aware of the difficulties that exist to realize this type of meeting in Africa but we are confident that an African Green Party will take the responsibility of being host of this transcendental international event.

Finally, it is not so much the economic means what have made possible the growth of the Greens but the firm conviction of our ideals. That is something that we should not forget and that we should share among all the Greens of the world.
