ECOLOGISTS CELEBRATE THE ELECTORAL TRIUMPH OF MICHELLE BACHELET

"A new history in Chile is written today, the one in which the environment will finally have the relevance it deserves, we are waiting for Michelle Bachelet to fulfill all the commitments she had already assumed with our sector to advance the fight for the protection of our environment and our natural resources", Manuel Baquedano, President of the Institute of Political Ecology, referred to the electoral triumph of Michele Bachelet.

Baquedano together with various ecologist leaders, like Sara Larrain, President of Sustainability and Fernando Dougnac, President of the Office of the Prosecutor of the Environment gave their unconditional support to Bachelet, who has assumed with this sector a responsibility for the environment sustainability of Chile, resumed in ten main points, where the new President of all Chileans has made a commitment to create a inistry

of the Environment, a Super-Intendance of the Environment in charge of controlling the correct fulfillment of the actual regulations of the environment. Besides not allowing the environmental approval of any project that does not present sustainability guarantees and that could endanger the environment, such as not forcing the use of nuclear energy in our borders and transgenic foods, among others.

"We would like to congratulate our new President of Chile, the first woman president for all the Chilean population with the clear conviction that they have consciously voted and have also decided to give their support to a government program that promotes the economic growth with the due respect to our natural environment, through the environmental sustainability", said Baquedano.
